TechAir flights from Israel to New York take off January 21

Presale offers fares starting at $1,550 as High-Tech Forum secures Airbus A330-900 for new service.

The High-Tech Forum has announced that it has finalized an agreement to lease a passenger plane and will begin selling tickets for its TechAir flights to the USA, set to launch on January 21 and continue through at least the end of March.
Initially, the Forum sought to exempt its flights from the Tibi law, which requires compensation of NIS 3,000 for significant changes to flights over eight hours. However, the law will apply, leading to higher ticket prices than originally planned.

Tickets will be priced at $1,550 round trip or $900 one way during a 72-hour presale, after which prices will rise by 15-20%. This pricing positions TechAir flights lower than El Al’s direct flights but higher than flights with a layover from carriers like LOT Polish Airlines or Emirates. Originally, TechAir aimed for round-trip tickets to cost $1,350.
The flights will depart at midnight from Israel, arriving at JFK Airport in New York, and return to Israel the following morning. An Airbus A330-900 with 300 seats has been leased for the operation. The Forum explained that the success of the flights depends on reserving at least 35% of the seats. The presale aims to generate enough commitment to ensure the flights take off as planned. Flights will be operated by an Israeli company, whose name will be revealed at a later date.
