Here's how Israel and Miami can disrupt the contech industry
Alon Gorbonos, General Partner and Founder at RE Angels, spoke to CTech at Calcalist’s Tech & Invest conference in Miami about construction tech.
“We’re all familiar with real estate, right? We live in houses. We have a roof over our heads 24/7. But what happened was that the specific world of real estate wasn't really disrupted with technology up until the last few years - and there are many reasons behind it,” explained Alon Gorbonos, General Partner and Founder at RE Angels.
RE Angels is a venture capital firm dedicated solely to the intersection between real estate and technology. The firm looks for entrepreneurs trying to disrupt what it believes is one of the last frontiers or last asset classes that hasn't been digitized with a focus primarily on the early stage. According to a McKinsey study he cites, they valued the AI opportunity within real estate to be approximately $180 billion. The firm confirmed that roughly 70% of its portfolio companies are based in Israel.
“I think it's very exciting how we see how everything that we do, from paying rent to now managing a construction site, to picking materials, to how the capital is moving in real estate, everything is now becoming digitized and everything is modernized,” he added.
